Returns & Refunds

What to do if a unit arrives misgraded or damaged, how a change-of-mind return works, and what each one costs.

Last updated: 3 November 2026

The short version. Inspect the unit before you sign. If it does not match the grade you bought, tell us within 7 days and we put it right at our cost. If you simply change your mind, you can return it for up to 30 days, but you pay the return haulage and a 25% restocking fee, and the original delivery charge is not refunded.

1. Inspect it on arrival

This is the most important thing in this policy. A container is a freight movement; once it is on your ground, moving it again costs real money. So before you sign the delivery paperwork:

  • walk all four sides and the roof line, looking for holes, patches and heavy denting;
  • open and close both cargo doors, and check the gaskets seat;
  • step inside, close the doors, and look for daylight through the roof, walls and corners;
  • check the floor for soft spots, oil staining and missing fasteners;
  • photograph anything that concerns you, and write it on the delivery note before signing.

If the unit is obviously not what you ordered — wrong size, wrong grade, visibly holed — you may refuse it at the point of delivery and we will arrange a replacement at no cost to you.

2. If a unit is misgraded or damaged

Tell us within 7 days of delivery, with photographs, at [email protected] or on +1 (555) 014-2667.

Where we agree the unit does not match the grade sold, you choose one of:

  • Repair on site, where the fault is localised and a patch restores the grade;
  • A partial refund, regrading the unit to what it actually is and refunding the difference;
  • Replacement, with the correct unit delivered and the original collected; or
  • A full refund, including the original delivery charge, with the unit collected at our cost.

You pay nothing in any of these cases. No restocking fee applies, and we arrange and pay for any collection.

Every unit sold as wind- and water-tight is guaranteed dry inside. Surface rust, dents, scratches, patched repairs, mismatched paint and faded markings are normal characteristics of used freight containers, are part of what the grade describes, and are not faults.

3. Change-of-mind returns

We accept change-of-mind returns for up to 30 days from delivery, provided the unit is unmodified, empty, clean and in the condition it arrived in. Because a container has to be hauled back to a depot and re-inspected before it can be resold:

  • a 25% restocking fee is deducted from the refund;
  • the original delivery charge is not refunded;
  • you pay the return haulage, which we will quote before you commit;
  • the unit must be accessible for collection by the same class of truck that delivered it.

A unit that has been cut, welded, painted, drilled, bolted to a foundation or otherwise modified cannot be returned, because it can no longer be sold as the grade it was bought at. The same applies to modifications themselves — doors, insulation, flooring, HVAC and electrical packages are fitted to order and are not returnable once installed.

Worked example. A $3,000 cargo-worthy 20ft unit returned on day 20 purely because you changed your mind: we refund $2250, being $3,000 less the25% restocking fee. The original delivery charge is not refunded, and the return haulage is yours. If instead that same unit arrived with a holed roof, you would receive the full $3,000 plus your delivery charge, and we would collect it at our own cost.

4. Rentals

A rental is not a sale, so this returns policy does not apply to it. Rental units are collected at the end of the hire period under the rental agreement; see your agreement for notice periods, minimum terms and condition expectations on collection.

5. How to start a return

Email [email protected] with your order reference, the delivery date, what you would like to happen, and photographs if the unit is faulty. Please do not arrange your own haulier: containers need specific equipment, and a collection we have not booked may be refused at the depot.

Once a returned unit is back at the depot and inspected, refunds are issued within14 days to the method you paid with.

6. Your legal rights

This policy sits on top of your rights under applicable federal and state consumer protection law, and does not replace them. Nothing here limits any implied warranty that your state does not allow us to disclaim. If a unit is not as described, your rights are unaffected by the time limits we set for our own voluntary returns above.
